Memorial DayMemorial Day is a solemn day of remembrance, as we honor those who died serving in the American armed forces.

Originally known as Decoration Day, the tradition started after the Civil War, gained a strong following after WWII, and was officially named Memorial Day in 1967.

In 1968, Congress passed the Uniform Holiday Act, designating Memorial Day as the last Monday in May.

WWP partners with The Memorial Day Foundation every year to ensure the nation knows the true meaning of the holiday recognized on the last Monday in May. WWP veterans join the foundation to visit and lay bouquets of red flowers at war memorials around New York City and other cities around the nation.
